New College’s Maxwell Sly celebrates his success at hj1act 2014

New College has an interesting method for selecting their hj1act entry, one which meets their A-Level Drama course requirements while at the same time giving them a selection of one-act plays to choose from. As part of their A2 course the students devise, write, direct, rehearse and perform their own pieces which must conform to set criteria laid down in their syllabus. Each of these plays is performed and the one judged to be the best by college Performing Arts tutors also wins the right to represent the college at hj1act.

Tonight,  Wednesday 10th and tomorrow, Thursday 11th December sees these plays performed at The Pheonix Theatre, New College, Swindon, and anyone can go along to watch. So, being the interested theatre-lovers that we are, a few of us from hjHQ will be going along.

The college says ‘expect imaginative staging, topical issues and powerful performances.’  Can’t wait!
