Our Friday night line-up

Yesterday we announced our line-up for our opening night, Thursday 9th April.

In case you missed it click HERE.

Today we move on to news of our line-up for night two of hj1act 2015:

Friday 10th April

The Lechlade Players

Last Tango in Little Grimley

a comedy by David Tristram

Little Grimley Amateur Dramatic Society is in trouble. The membership has dwindled to four – the audiences aren’t much bigger – and if they don’t come up with some rent money soon, they’re going to be thrown out. “There’s only one thing that sells tickets these days” argues Gordon the Chairman. “Sex!”. Thus begins the chaotic and hilarious build-up to an evening of extraordinary home-grown drama – an evening the locals would never forget!

hj1act is delighted to welcome back The Lechlade Players after their festival debut last year with the excellent ‘Two Purple Gloves’ which earned them The Audrey Suter Trophy for Best Adult Performance by an Actor.

Language: Non-offensive

EXPECTED DURATION: 35–40 minutes

New College 09 draft

New College Stage Company

Under the Bridge

a drama, devised by the cast

The world of the internet troll is dark and sinister. These far removed personalities who reach out through cyberspace to cause pain and misfortune to those they decieve. This play, devised by its cast of New College drama students, brings you four such stories. You’ll see the inner workings of the troll’s mind as well as the devastating consequences of their actions.

We were lucky enough to see this play back in December when it debuted at Swindon New College’s Phoenix Theatre. As always, the New College drama students have come up with another gritty, thought provoking, original piece bringing another dimension to our Youth Section.  The Friendly Theatre Company

The Virtuous Burglar

a farce by Dario Fo

The Virtuous Burglar is one of Dario Fo’s best known farces. This satire of bourgeois hypocrisy deals with the consequences of a burglary that starts out badly and just goes downhill from there on.

Six characters locked in a flat that they would each prefer not to be in are tangled in a web of marital intrigue that would take quite a few spiders to spin. Throw in some thwarted passion, a collapsing sofa and the extraneous bonging of a grandfather clock and you have the ingredients for a romp of the first order.

We’re delighted to welcome Friendly Theatre to this year’s festival. Appearing on the hj1act stage for the first time, Friendly Theatre will round up our second night with this hilarious farce. You can read more about Friendly Theatre HERE.

Language: Non-offensive

Curtain up is at 7.15pm and there will be two short intervals between the plays. To conclude the evening our GoDA adjudicator Sue Doherty will take to the stage to deliver her adjudication on the evening’s productions.
