The Honeymoon Suite (Extract)

a comedy by Tony Layton

‘SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW’

Ageing and fading pop star Jet Rush checks in to the Bridal Suite with Pat, his new wife.

The marriage is, for him, a sham, another publicity stunt in an attempt to re-invigorate his flagging career. Pat though, has loved him since the moment they met, but has never seen the love returned.

A bitter sweet journey into the honeymoon suite sees Jet plan his triumphal comeback. Will his plan work? Will he ever really appreciate Pat?

Our hj1act 2014 reigning champions return with this blistering comedy to round off a fabulous three days of drama. The Athlestan Players won three awards last year; the BBC Audience Award, The Audrey Suter Cup for best actress and the Betty Peck Rosebowl for the winning play. You can read more about The Athelstan Players HERE

EXPECTED DURATION:  40 minutes

Curtain up is at 7.15pm and there will be a short interval between the two plays. Immediately following the second play our GoDA adjudicator Sue Doherty will take to the stage to deliver her adjudication on the evening’s productions.

On this final evening, following the adjudications there will be a full interval so the results can be decided.

The climax to the evening and entire festival then follows with our Awards Ceremony.
