Since 1947 there has been a play festival held here in Swindon and to mark this momentous seventieth landmark we have lots of exciting celebrations coming up and new things to announce.
So what’s new for 2017?
We’re taking this show on the road! Our festival is hosted by the Swindon and District Theatre Guild, so we decided that as we’ve been in Swindon for a nice long time, it’s time to focus on the District side of things. So, we are very happy to announce that in 2017 our Special Seventieth Festival will be held at the Memorial Hall in Royal Wootton Bassett.
New entry fees
In 2017 we’re simply charging an entry fee of £75. In the past we have had a system whereby entrants purchase tickets which they sell on to their supporters. But this year we felt a flat fee would be the way to go. Ticket sales and ensuring each company has plenty of supporters is still just as important as ever so if you’re thinking of entering, do spread the word far and wide. Make sure all your supporters are there to cheer you on and enjoy this extra special festival.
There’s lots more to come which we’ll be announcing over the next few months.
