Welcoming newcomers Didcot Phoenix Theatre

We can’t tell you how happy we are to be welcoming newcomers Didcot Phoenix Theatre!  They’ve sent us this video so we can all get a taste of their play ‘The Lesson’ by Eugene Ionesco.

Director Karen Carey got in touch to tell us a bit more:

‘Written in 1951 as part of the “Theatre of the Absurd” movement, ‘The Lesson’ is a comic drama depicting a nonsensical encounter between a bright young pupil and an ageing professor who, under the watchful eye of his faithful maid, is not all he seems to be.

The Didcot Phoenix Drama Group has been in existence since 1983 and we perform at least three productions per year in the Didcot area.  We regularly take part in festivals around the Oxfordshire area, but this is the first time we have entered the Harold Jolliffe One-Act Play Festival and we are very excited to be part of this event.’

Thank you Karen!  We can’t wait to welcome you for the first of what we hope will be many more appearances by Didcot Phoenix Theatre at hj1act.

Don’t miss this great play which will be appearing on our opening night, Thursday 30th March.
